All Residents are given the opportunity to participate in the following programs: Restorative Care: daily exercises, sensory stimulation, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, volleyball, bowling, and gardening. Spiritual Care: pastoral visits, bible study, hymn sing, non-denominational church services, denominational church services, memorial services, and palliative care. The Volunteer Programs are recognized for their special contribution to the quality of resident's life. The program is designed to respond to resident's identified strengths, needs, and wishes. The Alzheimer Units have been designed to address the special needs of our residents. We strive to maintain home-like environments that are reflective of our resident population. Our goal is to provide a safe and secure environment, quality care, and support to residents who have Alzheimer's. Trained staff provide resident care in a multidisciplinary team approach.

The Dietary Department prepares and serves a variety of meals and snacks with a four week rotating seasonal menu. A Dietitian is on staff to assess needs and plan nutritional care. Guest dining is offered in a private dining area. We offer various diets including: puree, minced, diabetic, anti-reflux, dysphasic, etc.

Our Nursing Department assures our residents of total professional nursing care under the guidance of our Medical Director and Attending Physician. Care is supervised by Registered Staff that are on duty 24 hours a day. Our Personal Support Workers/Health Care Aides deliver the best possible standards of personal nursing care. We believe in a holistic approach to care which includes the involvement of the resident and family whenever possible. Our nursing and medical services are complemented by a full range of support services that include: Dentistry, Podiatry and Physiotherapy.

Palliative Care Units have been created to provide support to both residents and family. Special rooms provide accommodation for family members who want to provide 24-hour support to their dying family member. Staff have been specially trained to provide quality end of life care to the palliative resident and their support network.

The Environmental Services Department includes Housekeeping, Laundry and Maintenance.  They ensure the buildings are sanitary, safe and comfortable.  The provision of these services is made with full respect for the resident’s right to privacy; to living in a clean, safe environment; to receiving service from honest, trustworthy and competent staff; to having a comfortable and home-like environment; and the right to having routine cleaning schedules.

What's New

Both Long Term Care Homes in Hastings County were recently accepted into the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care's implementation of the RAI-MDS 2.0 Assessment Tool.  RAI which stands for Resident Assessment Instrument is the new funding tool being introduced in the province of Ontario. By the end of 2010 all 600 long term care homes in Ontario will be using this system which focuses more on the resident in a holistic manner rather than on the services that they require.

Centennial Manor is having their official launch party for staff on April 28 and Hastings Manor is having their official launch party on May 6.  Both celebrations will include a BBQ for the staff and there will be information brochures available for staff, residents and families.

This is a new and exciting time at the homes and we hope everyone will climb aboard as we take the RAI Cruise.
