The Provincial Offences Office is responsible for providing the following services:
- Administration, including fine payment
- Court Support
- Prosecutions of Part 1 Offences
- Enforcement
- Collections
- The Provincial Offences Act is broken into three sections:
Part 1 - The Enforcement Officer serves or issues a Part I Certificate of Offence of various charges. This document is also referred to as a Part I Ticket. When a Defendant is issued a ticket there is usually a fine amount that can be paid immediately.
Part 2 - This section governs Parking Infractions issued by Bylaw Enforcement Officers. Most parking infractions are administered by the individual Municipalities e.g. City of Belleville
Part 3 - This section deals with various charges laid by the Enforcement Officer usually due to a more serious offence. If a charge is laid under a Part III process it requires the Defendant to be served with a Summons to appear in court.
