Most likely you saw news footage of what happened recently in the Buffalo, NY area. They received a TON of snow in late 2014.
Whether it's several feet of snow, an ice storm such as Ontario experienced in the late 1990s, or a freak summer heat wave, extreme weather seems to be occurring quite a bit around the world lately.
As reported in the latest edition of Canadian Business Magazine, CIBC conducted a poll in May of 2014 and found that a third of small businesses have no weather contingency plan, even though 10% had experienced a weather-related interruption in the previous 12 months. It's suggested that businesses put money aside to cover cash flow and laying out a plan to have staff work from home in an emergency perhaps.
