Marmora SnoFest hosts Canada's longest-running sled dog races right here in Hastings County; for over 36 years SnoFest has worked to preserve and celebrate the heritage sport of sled-dog racing. SnoFest races include mixed and purebred sled dog teams and skijorers at sprint distances. During SnoFest, Marmora & Lake hosts a number of other events including a popular talent show, the Back of Cordova Curling Challenge and an outdoor winter carnival with activities for the whole family.
Good stuff is in the works: On August 22, 2015 Marmora is hosting the Ontario Federation of Sled Dog Sports Fall Symposium at the Marmora Community Centre, featuring Hans Gatt and Susie Rogan, and a draw for a new sled. SnoFest is also holding a fundraising raffle; the prize includes a Savage Axis Rifle & Scope, Barnett Quad 400 Crossbow Package, Simmons Trail Cam and more! The winner will be drawn at the SnoFest 2016 closing ceremonies, and tickets are available by texting 613-813-3165. SnoFest 2016 is set for February 6-7, and we're moving back to two days of fun, spectator-friendly races.
